Quality Webcomic Nerdiness

I love it when comics are both intelligent and fun. One of the first things I do when I wake up is read webcomics – it makes for a good transition to consciousness. And Today’s Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal is particularly relevant to last month’s discussion:

First thought: that could totally have been my high school.
Actual first thought: Blurg… (read: Where’s my coffee)
Second thought: Wait a minute, 0^0 is a complicated question! It’s not necessarily 1!

And this is why I love SMBC.

Haha, I’d forgotten that one! Looks like I’m due another trip through the XKCD archives…

  1. You know, I’d not stumbled across SMBC before…. now I’m going to be stuck here for hours reading them all… so..um… thanks… I think….

I know! Isn’t it great going through archives of a new webcomic? I mean, it’s time-consuming… but a wonderful way to spend a couple hours at a time. Much better use of time than facebook.

I know how to prove that i^i=e^(-pi/2), but it still makes no sense to me. 😛

This reminds me of a janitor at my university who was retiring. One of the things he used to do is clear the blackboards in between classes.

He said that often a professor had written the whole blackboard full of symbols and equations and in the bottom right corner it would then end with “= 0”, and he’d wonder what the point of all those equations was when it was all equal to zero anyway.
